This past weekend in Gettysburg, the Pennsylvania Young Republicans elected new leadership for the 2020-2021 term, electing Makala Ashmar of the Lehigh Valley Young Republicans to serve as Chairman; Meredith Dolan from the Allegheny County Young Republicans as Co-Chair; Jenna Geesey from the Lancaster County Young Republicans as Vice Chair; Meredith Buettner from the Delaware County Young Republicans as National Committeewoman; Jonathon Hauenschild from the Butler County Young Republicans as National Committeeman; Brittany Rieker from the Dauphin County Young Republicans as Secretary; and Ann Kaufman from the Lycoming County Young Republicans as Treasurer.
The Pennsylvania Young Republicans also unanimously endorsed current state chairman Rick Loughery in his bid for National Chairman of the Young Republicans.
During their annual convention, the Pennsylvania Young Republicans heard from special guests Congressman John Joyce, State Senator-elect Doug Mastriano, and State Representative Torren Ecker.
In response, Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Val DiGiorgio, made the following statement:
“As a former Young Republican, I know the Pennsylvania Young Republicans are not only great grassroots leaders and advocates, but the future of the Republican Party. Since I have been Chairman of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania, I have seen how the great work of the Young Republicans has paid off in electing Republicans up and down the ballot and how their enthusiasm carries itself across our Party.
“I congratulate current Young Republican Chairman and Chester County Republican Committee Chairman Rick Loughery on his many accomplishments in growing the organization and look forward to working with Makala Ashmar and the rest of the PAYR MOMENTUM team as we enter the 2020 election cycle.”
In addition, current Pennsylvania Young Republican Chairman Rick Loughery, made the following statement:
“From being named he 2018 State Young Republican Federation of the Year to quadrupling the size of our organization to supporting Republican candidates with more than one million voter contacts and electing 27 Young Republicans to public office last year, I’m proud of the accomplishments our organization.
“As we pass the leadership of this organization to Makala Ashmar, I’m excited about the future of the Pennsylvania Young Republicans. She has built a team that is ready to take on the challenge.”
In addition, incoming Pennsylvania Young Republican Chairwoman Makala Ashmar, made the following statement:
“I am extremely honored and humbled by the support of this group of young professionals and I am excited to hit the ground running in such a critical year.
“I look forward to building on the momentum we have gained throughout the past couple of years to energize this first-class organization so we can deliver Pennsylvania in 2020.”
