Capitol to be full of bought-and-paid-for “advocates” Tuesday

As budget negotiations remain ongoing, a group of “advocates” will be filling the Capitol Rotunda Tuesday for a “Budget Day of Action” to call for legislators to act on a number of initiatives related to the state budget.

However, the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center—a dark money-funded liberal “policy” group—is paying the “advocates” to come to Harrisburg for the “Day of Action,” enticing their attendance with a $50 pre-paid Visa gift card.

In response, Republican Party of Pennsylvania Communications Director Jason Gottesman, made the following statement:

“Normally, Pennsylvanians of all means make their way to Harrisburg at their own expense to advocate for their cause.

“That the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center had to pay people to come to their so-called Day of Action is a prime example of people making a lot of noise, but their causes not having a lot of support.

“Maybe if the left’s policy proposals were not so out of touch and disastrous, they’d be able to draw attendance at their advocacy days without compensation.”
