STATEMENT: With new U.S. Supreme Court nomination pending, Bob Casey’s obstruction is already in high gear

It took only a few hours after Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his intention to resign from the Supreme Court of the United States in July before obstructionist Sen. Bob Casey came out urging a delay in nominating a successor and adding it is “highly unlikely” he would support a nomination made by the President, regardless of the putative nominee’s specific qualifications.

In so doing, Bob Casey has joined—once again—with other radical Pennsylvania leftists like John Fetterman in calling for obstruction instead of action merely to appease supporters in the liberal-progressive resistance movement.

As a reminder, Bob Casey voted against Justice Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation and has repeatedly stood in the way of the confirmation of David Porter, a nominee to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

In response, Republican Party of Pennsylvania Communications Director Jason Gottesman made the following statement:

“The comments made yesterday by career politician Bob Casey are the essence of the obstruction and resistance moderate Pennsylvanians are tired of getting from Democrats in Congress.

“His premature views on replacing Justice Kennedy prove he is trying his best to show Pennsylvanians the depths he will go to in order to slow the wheels of justice while catering to the liberal left flank of his party.”
