Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley Scores Convincing Victory In Lieutenant Governor Debate

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley’s victory in today’s debate in Harrisburg.

“In every debate, Governor Tom Corbett and Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley have presented the blueprint for putting Pennsylvania back to work,” Gleason said. “Over the course of the past four years, the Corbett-Cawley team has created 180,000 private sector jobs and dropped the unemployment rate from 8.1% to 5.7%. Governor Corbett and Lieutenant Governor Cawley have increased state education spending every year they’ve been in office, and they’ve done it without raising taxes.

“Tom Wolf and Senator Mike Stack are running a campaign to raise our income taxes, plain and simple. While Lieutenant Governor Cawley talked about creating jobs, Senator Stack can only talk about tripling the Commonwealth’s income taxes. Instead of committed to growing our economy like the Corbett-Cawley team, Tom Wolf and Mike Stack keep talking about expanding the size of government.

“I applaud Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley on his victory in today’s debate, and look forward to working hard to send the Corbett-Cawley team back to Harrisburg this November.
