Wolf’s Silence On His Campaign’s Attack On The PA National Guard Speaks Volumes

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding the Wolf campaign’s attack on Tom Corbett’s 13 years of service in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

“Why has Tom Wolf not condemned his campaign’s attack on Tom Corbett’s 13 years of service in the Pennsylvania National Guard?” Gleason asked. “Tom Wolf’s refusal to condemn his campaign’s attack on service in Pennsylvania’s National Guard displays a troubling lack of leadership and judgment. Does Tom Wolf think it’s ok to belittle service in the PA National Guard?

“Every day, the brave men and women of Pennsylvania’s National Guard help to keep us safe. That the Wolf campaign would support disrespecting the National Guard as a campaign tactic is deeply troubling.

“Tom Wolf is running for Commander-in-Chief of the PA National Guard, but he is refusing to stand up for their service and sacrifice. Tom Wolf owes an apology for his campaign’s despicable comments about Governor Corbett, the 19,000 members of the Pennsylvania National Guard, and the 950,000 veterans who call Pennsylvania home.”

Yesterday, a spokesman for Tom Wolf’s Campaign for a Fresh Start attacked Governor Corbett’s National Guard service, saying, “[Governor Tom Corbett] joined the National Guard to avoid going to Vietnam.” (James O’Toole, “Selective service, selective facts,” Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 10/7/2014)
