HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding Pennsylvania’s April unemployment numbers.
“Governor Tom Corbett is putting Pennsylvanians back to work,” Gleason said. “Tom Corbett came to Harrisburg with a pledge of more jobs and less taxes, and that’s exactly what he’s done. Over the course of the past three years, Governor Corbett has eliminated a $4.2 billion budget deficit, increased our state investment in education, and lowered our unemployment rate to a 5-year low. Tom Corbett’s policies are working, and today’s wonderful announcement serves as further proof that Pennsylvania is headed in the right direction.
Today, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry announced that Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate is 5.7%. The national average stands at 6.3%.
