Pennsylvania Democrats should do the right thing, call on Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam to resign

As national Democratic leaders, 2020 Presidential contenders, and even the Virginia Democratic Party have called on Gov. Ralph Northam to resign following the release of a picture of him in an overtly racist act, Pennsylvania Democrats have largely remained silent on whether or not Gov. Northam should remain in office.

In response, Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Val DiGiorgio, made the following statement:

“Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam should have resigned after advocating for infanticide, but the revelation of his racist behavior makes it unquestionable that he no longer should be in office.

“That being the case, Pennsylvania Democrats’ silence on Gov. Ralph Northam’s racist behavior is as deafening as it is inappropriate.

“I would hope they agree that racism, anti-semitism, and other forms of bigotry have no place in government or in politics.

“Gov. Tom Wolf, Sen. Bob Casey, PA Democratic Party Chairwoman Nancy Patton Mills, and any other Pennsylvania Democrats who wish to remain on the right side of this issue should step up, do the right thing, and join the chorus of other leaders in calling on. Gov. Northam to resign.”
