I want to begin this week’s message by once again recognizing the service and contributions of Congressman Tom Marino, who announced this week he will be stepping down from office.
Congressman Marino is a dedicated public servant and has made innumerable contributions to his district, the US Congress, and the people of Pennsylvania. We wish him luck in his future endeavors.
We were also saddened this week by the loss of Karen Coates, the Chief of Staff to PA House Speaker Mike Turzai and one of the most respected staff members in the Pennsylvania General Assembly. She was a powerhouse and a friend to many. Her loss is devastating and we at the Republican Party of Pennsylvania are keeping her family, friends, and co-workers in our thoughts and prayers.
The path to victory in 2019 and 2020 also continued this week where I remained on the road in support of the Republican message and working to unite and strengthen our Party.
Thursday, I was in Washington, D.C. where I met with the President’s re-election team and laid out our two-year plan to achieve victory for the President in Pennsylvania come November 2020.
We are going to recruit volunteers, focus on the utilization of voter data, and retool our messaging to appeal to voters across Pennsylvania in the two upcoming election cycles.
As we look to support the President, it’s become increasingly clear Democrats have no desire to come to the table to work with him or Congressional Republicans on providing border security, no matter how many overtures President Trump makes to Democratic leadership.
It was reported this week that Pennsylvania Democrat Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan—in true representative nature of her open-borders Party—said negotiating with President Trump over border security was “like negotiating with a terrorist.”
I was also happy to be on the road once again traveling across Pennsylvania in support of our message.
While in Wilkes-Barre this week, I sat down with the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader to talk about our vision and our plan for the future of the Republican Party in Pennsylvania. You can read that story HERE.
It was also a pleasure to sit down with many Northeastern Pennsylvania stakeholders this week and speak before the PA GOP’s Northeast and NECRA caucuses as we continue to examine potential Superior Court judges in advance of our February State Committee meeting.
