Despite agreeing weeks ago to additional debates in the 8th Congressional District, liberal-progressive Matt Cartwright appears to be breaking his promise to debate Republican nominee John Chrin in each of the counties in the 8th District, depriving voters the chance to compare their candidates on a number of specific issues.
In response, Republican Party of Pennsylvania Communications Director Jason Gottesman, made the following statement:
“Matt Cartwright is pulling a bait-and-switch on the voters of the 8th Congressional District by first agreeing to debate John Chrin in all five counties of the new district and now dragging his feet to finalize the details of the debates, despite the best efforts of the Chrin campaign.
“This is another broken promise from Matt Cartwright. Since going to Washington D.C., Cartwright has turned his back on the voters of his current and new district by voting in support of sanctuary cities and becoming a leader of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, led by socialist Bernie Sanders and ultra-liberals like Maxine Waters and Keith Ellison.”
