Chairman Gleason Releases Statement On January PA Jobs Report

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding the state jobs report for January.

“Today’s jobs announcement serves as further proof that Governor Tom Corbett is putting Pennsylvanians back to work,” Gleason said. “While the national unemployment rate climbed higher, Governor Corbett’s commonsense economic policies helped Pennsylvanian’s unemployment rate drop to its lowest point since November 2008.

“Over the course of the past three years, Governor Corbett has eliminated a $4 billion budget deficit, limited the size of government, and invested more state funds in our schools without raising taxes. Governor Corbett brought fiscal sanity to Harrisburg, and showed the world that Pennsylvania is open for business.

“Today’s report is great news for Pennsylvania, and I look forward to watching Governor Corbett continue to grow our economy and create jobs.”

Today, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry unveiled its January jobs report, which showed a .4% drop in the state’s unemployment rate to 6.4%. The national unemployment rate rose today to 6.7%.
