On a recent trip to Collier Township, U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy (R-18) noticed the American flag flying outside the Kirwan Heights Volunteer Fire Department looked tattered.
He decided to bring a new one last week as a replacement.
Murphy briefly stopped by the department April 4 to deliver a new 4-by-6 American flag for the pole on the Washington Pike side of the station. Murphy and members of the fire department then participated in a flag-raising ceremony.
“Thank you for all you do,” Murphy said.
Fire Chief Joe Wissel Jr. said the previous flag became tattered over a long winter.
“Hopefully the new flag brings warm weather,” he said.
