With more than a decade of experience as a state lawmaker, Rep. Mario Scavello (R-Monroe) today announced that he has been appointed as the Pennsylvania House of Representatives’ new majority chairman of the House Labor and Industry Committee for the 2013-14 legislative session.

“As the chairman of this committee, I will continue to focus on the many issues facing Pennsylvanians, such as creating careers and job opportunities, and providing a good wage to all residents of the Commonwealth,” said Scavello. “There is important work ahead of us, and I look forward to working with my House colleagues and representatives within the labor industry. Together, we can make Pennsylvania a better place for our working men and women.”

Scavello was first elected to the House in 2002. Since that time, he has served as chairman on several subcommittees including the Subcommittee on Travel Promotion, History and Heritage of the Tourism and Recreational Development Committee, and the Subcommittee on Education for the House Appropriations Committee.

This is Scavello’s first chairman assignment for a standing House committee.
