U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster, R-Hollidaysburg, has received the National Tax Limitation Committee’s “Tax Fighter Award” for the 112th Congress.

Shuster’s votes on tax and spending issues in the 112th Congress earned him an “A” grade and the Tax Fighter Award.

“I am pleased to be recognized for my dedication to keep taxes low and government small,” said Shuster. “I will continue to fight overregulation and big government, protect the taxpayer and restore our economy for American families.”

“Congressman Shuster has become a major asset to taxpayers across America during his congressional service, having earned the Tax Fighter Award consistently in every session of Congress. He has had the courage to challenge the orthodoxy of Washington taxing and spending,” said National Tax Limitation Committee (NTLC) President Lewis K. Uhler.

NTLC analyzes the voting records of senators and representatives. The NTLC places special emphasis on tax, budget and appropriation measures that would have a major impact on long-term taxing and spending programs of the government.

“Congressman Shuster has led the battle on behalf of taxpayers to repeal Obamacare, to block cap-and-trade legislation, to make the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts permanent, to eliminate the death tax, to kill the Alternative Minimum Tax, to provide incentives for private savings, investment and job creation to control the growth of federal spending,” said Uhler.
