Democrat Representative Vilifies Pro-Life Women as ‘Men With Breasts”
HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Vice Chair Joyce Haas released the following statement in response to comments made by Rep. Babette Josephs (D-Philadelphia) yesterday describing Republican women opposing abortion as “men with breasts.”
“Rep. Babette Josephs comments are inappropriate, degrading and utterly senseless and she should apologize immediately. When Rep. Josephs called pro-life women ‘men with breasts’ she not only hurled a degrading insult to Pennsylvania women, she also removed any legitimacy the Democratic Party had in articulating their point of view on this issue, especially since neither she nor Democrat Leadership have apologized or denounced her comments.
“Reasonable people can disagree on important issues, but resorting to demeaning name-calling of Rep. Josephs’ variety should not be tolerated anywhere in our public discourse. On behalf of all the Republican women in this Commonwealth who were insulted by Rep. Josephs, and her unwillingness to back away from them, I call upon Pennsylvania Democratic Party and her Democratic colleagues to immediately denounce her comments and restore civility and respect when discussing important issues.”
