Spill The Beans, Joe!

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason was encouraged to learn that the seven Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee have sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder calling for an investigation into the increasingly apparent attempts by the White House to buy Congressman Joe Sestak out of the U.S. Senate race.

“It’s time for Joe to spill the beans,” Gleason said. “For a guy who claims to be a political ‘outsider,’ it seems Sestak is doing everything he can to protect the Washington political insiders.

“What is the White House hiding, and why is Joe Sestak helping them hide it? It’s been months since Joe Sestak first admitted that the White House offered him a taxpayer-funded job in exchange for dropping out of the U.S. Senate race, yet he is stubbornly refusing to elaborate on the details of this truly suspicious situation.

“If, as White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said, ‘nothing inappropriate’ occurred, then why is Joe Sestak so reluctant to talk about it? Why is Joe Sestak doing everything he can to make this story go away, except for providing the American people with the answers that we want and deserve?

“Sadly, it’s becoming apparent that Joe Sestak is more worried about pacifying this Administration than standing up for the voters of Pennsylvania. At a time when Joe Sestak and the White House continue to stonewall the American people, I am happy to learn that Republicans in the Senate are working hard to get to the bottom of this matter.

“While Joe Sestak is spending his days ducking the questions of reporters regarding his backroom dealings with the White House, Pat Toomey is traveling across the Commonwealth, meeting with voters showing them that he is a man who is more than willing to stand up to the ‘politics-as-usual’ dealings of Washington, D.C.”
