State House Democrats Continue Their Record Of Fiscal Irresponsibility

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding the irresponsible budget that state House Democrats have passed today:

“New year, another irresponsible budget from the out-of-touch House Democratic Caucus,” Gleason said. “The budget put forth today increases spending by $1.2 billion and places taxes on things like magazines, dry cleaning and even caskets at a time when many hardworking Pennsylvanians are still struggling to make ends meet.

“While Governor Rendell and state House Democrats are pinning their budget hopes on non-existent federal dollars, Republicans are working hard to find solutions to the most pressing economic problems facing our Commonwealth. It’s time for Governor Ed Rendell and state House Democrats to join with Republicans in adopting a fiscally responsible budget that recognizes the challenges facing Pennsylvanians while targeting waste in our government.

“Our state needs a change in leadership and I am confident that when Tom Corbett is elected Governor, he will put forth fiscally responsible state budgets that respect the tax dollars of hardworking Pennsylvanians.”
