PA GOP calls for investigation into Democrat Party voter registration tactics

Tuesday, the Republican Party of Pennsylvania requested the Fayette County Elections Bureau and the Fayette County District Attorney undertake an investigation into tactics by the Democratic Party to entice Pennsylvanians to register to vote as Democrats or change their party affiliation to Democrat.

According to Title 25, section 1711(a)(3) no personal shall ““[I]ntentionally give or promise or offer to give money or goods to an individual as an inducement for the the individual to enroll in a particular party or for a registrant to change political affiliation.”

At the Fayette County Fair, Democrats are promising prizes such as Steelers gear and a trip to the Nemacolin resort as inducements to register to vote as or change party affiliation to Democrat.

In response, Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Val DiGiorgio, made the following statement:

“We are requesting this investigation not only because of the apparently flagrant violation of state election law, but also to ensure the voter registration process remains untainted desperate actors seeking to gain an unfair—and potentially illegal—advantage.

“It is my hope that an investigation will be underway shortly, this problem will be corrected, and those responsible held accountable.”
