Chairman Val DiGiorgio Statement on Senate Bill 166

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Val DiGiorgio released the following statement on Senate Bill 166:

“Senate Bill 166 — introduced by Senator Eichelberger — appropriately prohibits the automatic collection of government union money for political purposes. Since 2007, union bosses have spent more than $95 million on politics. It’s concerning that government employees are forced to contribute their hard earned money to political causes they might not personally support solely because of where they are employed. ”
“I’m hopeful Senate Bill 166 will be signed into law this legislative session in order to bring accountability between unions and their members.”
