Day 470: When Will Katie McGinty Call On Tom Wolf To Stop Hiding Her Government Emails?

4 Days Since The Commonwealth Court Ordered Her Emails To Be Made Public,

McGinty and Wolf Continue to Hide

HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Communications Director Megan Sweeney released the following statement regarding Katie McGinty’s continued refusal to call for the immediate release of her government emails.

McGinty served as Chief of Staff to “America’s Most Liberal Governor” Tom Wolf, and pushed for a number of new taxes on items such as diapers, day care, nursing home care and even caskets.

“Voters deserve to know what Katie McGinty was doing while they were paying for her Harrisburg paycheck before they head to the polls, not five days afterwards,” Sweeney said. “It’s been nearly 16 months since the PA GOP first requested Katie McGinty’s government emails. Right-to-Know requests are supposed to take five days, but Katie McGinty and Tom Wolf have now been hiding her emails for 470 days. The Office of Open Records told the Wolf Administration to release McGinty’s emails. Now, the Commonwealth Court has ordered the release Katie McGinty’s government emails, but her former Democrat boss is still hiding the truth from Pennsylvania voters.

“Hillary Clinton used a private server to hide her government emails. Katie McGinty is using the taxpayer-funded Office of the Governor to do her dirty work and hide her emails. Katie McGinty has a long history of ethics problems and enriching trips through the revolving door between the public and private sectors. Voters have the right to know exactly what Katie McGinty was doing in her last taxpayer-funded job.”

On July 7th, 2015, PA GOP Deputy Communications Director Paul Engelkemier requested outgoing Wolf Chief of Staff’s Katie McGinty’s emails from her tenure in the Wolf Administration.

To date, only 71 out of 15,000 pages of emails in this request have been publicly released, 25 pages of which were an advertising brochure for cablewire.

On Friday, the Commonwealth Court ordered the release of the requested government emails of Katie McGinty. The ruling also notes that the Office of the Governor “attempted to confuse the matter” of the release of the emails in front of the Commonwealth Court by adding in information regarding a request for McGinty’s calendar.
