HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding Juneteenth.
“Today, we commemorate a critical milestone in African-American history,” Gleason said. “Juneteenth is a time to commemorate the end of the horrible sin of slavery in our country. Now, Juneteenth serves as a time of great celebration as we remember the victory of freedom over oppression, and the ongoing fight for liberty in our nation. Our Party is working hard to ensure Juneteenth is recognized throughout the Commonwealth, including recent efforts to make this important day a recognized state holiday.
“On behalf of the Chairman of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania, I want to wish everyone a happy and joyous Juneteenth.”
