Governor Wolf Ditches Bipartisanship After 49 Hours In Office

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Communications Director Megan Sweeney released the following statement regarding Governor Tom Wolf’s attack on Open Records Executive Director Erik Arneson and other appointees.

“Today, Governor Tom Wolf proved that his talk of working in a bipartisan manner was just empty rhetoric,” Sweeney said. “Just 49 hours after his swearing-in, Tom Wolf is trying to remove qualified individuals solely because of their Republican registration. The partisan and possibly improper removal of some of these nominees, especially those who are responsible for openness and transparency of government, is very troubling.

“Governor Wolf’s actions are blatantly partisan and reeks of politics as usual. The Wolf Administration is picking up where the Rendell administration left off instead of focusing on the toughest issues facing our Commonwealth.”

Today, Governor Tom Wolf chose to suspend a number of appointments made by Governor Tom Corbett in the final days of his Administration. (Kevin Zwick, “Wolf, Senate GOP spar over recall of Corbett’s lame-duck executive nominations,” Capitolwire.com, 1/22/2014)
