HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding President Obama’s State of the Union speech.
“Tonight, President Obama continued to peddle the same tired liberal agenda items he’s pushed for the past six years,” Gleason said. “Just a few months ago, the American people sent a message to President Obama by sending Republican majorities to the Senate and House. Given the content of tonight’s speech, it seems clear that President Obama has chosen to listen to liberal special interest groups instead of the American people.
“President Obama’s State of the Union speech only succeeded in cementing his legacy of support for higher taxes, bigger government and out-of-control spending. Whether it’s his effort to wage a War on Coal or his support for a disastrous healthcare law, President Obama is more focused on growing the size of our government than the size of our economy.
“President Obama’s speech further proved how out-of-touch he’s become with the American people. While the President is focused on appeasing liberal special interest groups, Republicans are ready to get to work tackling the tough issues facing our country.”
