HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding Pennsylvania State House Speaker Sam Smith’s announcement that he will retire at the end of his current term.
“Speaker Sam Smith has devoted his life to improving the lives of his constituents and all Pennsylvanians,” Gleason said. “For 27 years, Sam Smith has given a voice to those who sought common sense and fiscal sanity in their government. Speaker Smith’s hard work has made Pennsylvania a better place to live and work, and future generations will no doubt enjoy the benefits of his service to our Commonwealth.
