Megan Sweeney Named Communications Director

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason has announced that Megan Sweeney will serve as the new Communications Director for the Republican Party of Pennsylvania. The position was previously held by Valerie Caras, who was recently appointed as Deputy Director of Communications in the Governor’s Office.

“I am excited to announce Megan Sweeney as the newest addition to our strong Republican team,” Gleason said. “As we head into the 2014 election cycle, driving the Republican message of limited government and fiscal responsibility with the citizens of Pennsylvania will be critical to our Party’s success. Megan will play a key role in shaping our message as we work to re-elect Governor Tom Corbett, Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley and our entire Republican team.”

As Communications Director, Megan will serve as the primary point of contact for members of the media looking to reach the Republican Party of Pennsylvania and Party officials. She can be contacted at 717-234-4901 ext. 160 or via email at [email protected].

A native of Upper Darby, Megan previously served as Deputy Communications and Technology Director at the PA GOP from 2008 through 2011. A former member of the George W. Bush Administration, Megan also worked as Press Secretary for Congressman Lou Barletta, and most recently worked as Special Assistant to Secretary of the Commonwealth Carol Aichele. She is a graduate of Cornell University, where she majored in government and history.
