Pennsylvania Democrats Put Politics Over People

Prioritize “making life miserable” for Pennsylvanians over working with Governor Corbett

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding the Pennsylvania Democratic Party’s condoned obstructionism at their recent state party meeting:

“Democratic party leaders have made it quite clear that they have two objectives this year: kill Pennsylvania jobs, and make it as hard as possible for Republicans to create them. It’s sad that Democratic Party bosses have put politics over people and their priorities are sorely misplaced. We invite the Democratic Party to shed their obstructionism and join the efforts of Governor Corbett and Republicans in State Legislature to make Pennsylvania a better place to live, work and raise a family.”

“Even if we do not win we need to make life miserable for [Republicans.]”

Morning caucuses covered womens issues, labor, and seniors among others. In the Labor Caucus, AFL-CIO President Rick Bloomingdale lambasted union opponents in the state House and Senate. “We need to make life miserable for Daryl Metcalfe, we need to make life miserable for Mike Turzai, even if we do not win we need to make life miserable for them.”(Feldman, Carl. Democrats Pass Moratorium on Drilling at State Party Meeting

“The labor caucus meeting became contentious though when Monroe County Committee member Sue Lyons began to stump for her resolution. She wanted a moratorium on the practice of hydraulic fracturing to retrieve natural gas….Nonetheless the resolution passed by a standing vote of 115 in favor to 81 opposed. The victory was to the delight of many members of the state committee and a small group of protesters who had camped out, outside the Penn Square Marriott and Convention Center.” (Feldman, Carl. Democratic State Committee Roundup. PoliticsPA. 6/15/2013.)
