Governor Corbett Announces 50 New Jobs In Cumberland County With Local Manufacturer Expansion

Governor Tom Corbett

Governor Tom Corbett announced today that Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM) will expand operations to support new growth in the manufacturing industry, retaining 537 jobs and adding 50 new jobs in Cumberland County.

“Supporting Pennsylvania business and giving them the tools they need to succeed in creating newjob opportunities is a priority of my administration,” Corbett said. “Today’s announcement exemplifies what happens when business and government work together – 50 new, high-payingmanufacturing jobs to this region.”

CCM is planning to construct a new 72,500 square foot facility at its Carlisle operation to establish a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) membrane manufacturing operation, a new product not currently manufactured at the facility. The project is expected to generate a total capital investment in excess of $40 million and will result in the purchase of new equipment and employee training, while creating 50 new jobs at the facility within the next three years.

“We would like to thank the governor’s administration for their support of Carlisle Construction Materials. In addition to adding jobs to the local economy, the new TPO manufacturing line will provide our company with important growth opportunities,” John Altmeyer, President and CEO of Carlisle Construction Materials Incorporated said.

The company received a funding offer from the Department of Community and Economic Development including a $100,000 Pennsylvania First Program grant, $100,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits and $22,500 Guaranteed Free Training grant which will be used for skills training for both new and incumbent employees.

The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team, or GAT, a group of economic development professionals who work directly with businesses that are considering locating or expanding in Pennsylvania, in collaboration with the Cumberland Area Economic DevelopmentCorporation.

“We are excited CCM is not only staying in Cumberland County but that they are expanding and creating new jobs. They have been a major employer in the region for quite some time and with this expansion they have proven their commitment to their employees and this community. This was truly a collaborative effort from the state, county and local levels to make this happen and we look forward to a long-standing relationship with CCM,” Jonathan Bowser, Cumberland AreaEconomic Development Corporation’s Director of Economic Development said.”
