U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta, R-11, was presented with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s “Spirit of Enterprise” award, which recognizes members of Congress for strong records of supporting pro-growth policies.

“This is a great honor for me, and it is a confirmation that my beliefs and actions are intended to continue to try to improve the economy and create jobs in Pennsylvania and across the country,” Barletta said. “Government does not create private sector jobs, but it can allow for conditions for businesses to grow and hire more people.”

The chamber scored Congress on 12 votes in the U.S. House of Representatives, including the establishment of Permanent Normal Trade Relations with Russia and the reauthorization of surface transportation legislation. Also scored were votes to repeal portions of the Affordable Care Act.

Barletta’s 2012 score was 92 percent. His career rating is 96 percent.
