Corbett Nominates Dr. Carrie DeLone To Be The State’s Next Physician General

Harrisburg Patriot-News

Gov. Tom Corbett today nominated Dr. Carrie DeLone to be the next physician general in the state Department of Health.

Her nomination requires confirmation by the state Senate before she can assume the post.

In that role, DeLone, 55, of Camp Hill, would advise the governor and the health secretary on all medical and public health-related issues and be responsible for reviewing professional standards and practices in medicine and public health matters.

Additionally, she would oversee the department’s disease prevention and control efforts and serve on the State Board of Medicine and the State Board of Osteopathic Medicine.

DeLone presently serves as a physician adviser at Holy Spirit Hospital in East Pennsboro Twp., where she is the liaison between hospital administrators and physicians. She is a board-certified general internist.

She would replace Dr. Stephen Ostroff, who left the department in February to pursue other interests.

*This post has been updated to include the prior physician general.
