When will Bob Casey Present a Serious Plan to Reduce Spending?
HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement in response to President Obama’s State of the Union Address and called on Pennsylvania Democrats to present serious solutions to our national debt:
“Time and again, President Obama has seized the national stage to present a grand idea, and has then failed to follow through on his promises to deliver fiscal responsibility to the American people. Our nation is saddled with trillions in debt, burdening job creators and the middle class for generations to come, and Democrats have failed to bring a serious plan to the table to get our spending under control. Simpson-Bowles and the Super Committee, of which our own U.S. Senator Pat Toomey was a member, have presented plans only to have them rejected by President Obama who requested them. Despite the President Obama and Nancy Pelosi’s denials, it’s very clear that we have a spending problem,” said Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason.
“When will Bob Casey stand up to President Obama and present his own plan to get our economy moving and our fiscal house in order? Does Treasurer Rob McCord, the steward of Pennsylvania’s taxpayer dollars, agree with President Obama’s thirst for more government spending and higher taxes?
“After presenting two fiscally responsible budgets, Governor Corbett has shown how fiscal restraint boosts economic growth and allows us to reinvest in our future. Will McCord side with tax-and-spend Democrats or applaud the pro-jobs, pro-growth policies that Governor Corbett’s fiscally responsible leadership has irrefutably created? Republicans have a plan that is on the table, in the open and producing is results. The fact that Democrats don’t have a serious plan and have been absent in these negotiations speaks volumes about their ability to ever promote fiscal responsibility,” said Chairman Gleason.
