Applications for the 4th Congressional District’s 2013 Summer Internship Program are currently being accepted, according to a news release. The deadline is Jan. 15.
Applications are open to all undergraduate college students in the district who will have completed at least their freshman year by the beginning of the internship, according to the news release.
The six area college students who are selected for the program will spend the majority of their summer, from mid-May through mid-August, working as full-time interns for U.S. Rep. Scott Perry, R-York County, according to the release.
They will spend five weeks in Washington, D.C., assisting with legislative projects, and another five weeks in one of Perry’s district offices, assisting with constituent casework.
Students will receive a weekly stipend during the entire internship. And during the Washington, D.C., portion of the internship, the 4th District Internship Association will provide students with free housing at an area university within walking distance to public transportation, according to the release.
Students are selected based on academic performance, extracurricular activities and a demonstrated commitment to the ideals of public service, according to the release. Interns are selected on a non-partisan basis.

The 4th Congressional District includes all of York and Adams counties, nearly all of Harrisburg and part of Susquehanna Township in Dauphin County and parts of Cumberland County.
