Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani will be in Wilkes-Barre this morning, joining other notable Republicans at a campaign stop for U.S. Senate candidate Tom Smith and state Attorney General candidate David Freed.
A rally is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. in the Luzerne County GOP Victory Center, 34 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Along with Mr. Giuliani, Republican U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, former Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman and former Maryland Gov. Bob Ehrlich are also slated to be at the rally.
Mr. Giuliani, who is best known for his efforts to clean up New York City and his leadership in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the city, has a tie to Luzerne County: he is married to Hazleton High School graduate Judith Ann Stish.
Although today’s rally is open to the public, Luzerne County Republican Chairman Bill Urbanski said the Victory Center has limited space, with room for only 40 or 50 people, so admittance will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
