Ann Romney To Fundraise In Harrisburg

Allentown Morning Call

Ann Romney, tasked this campaign cycle with “humanizing” Mitt Romney, will raise money for her husband in Harrisburg later this month.

The early evening reception at the Harrisburg Hilton on Monday Oct. 15 costs a couple $1,000 to $15,000 to attend, or they can attend for free if they raise a certain amount for the campaign. While no public events are scheduled yet, Romney is expected to add Pennsylvania campaign stops as she keeps up a pace almost as strenuous as her husband’s in these final weeks.

The campaign’s soldier in the effort to dispel perceptions of Mitt Romney as out of touch and lacking empathy, Ann Romney has been on hand to share the softer side of her husband at rallies and in interviews.

“He has a character that is so strong, and is caring, and is good, and is — he’s just such a good, decent human being,” she told CNN in an interview published before Wednesday’s debate. In the same interview, Ann Romney revealed that at every debate Mitt Romney writes “Dad” on a piece of paper to keep his father, former Michigan Gov. George Romney, with him.

She let frustration get the best of her recently during a radio interview in Iowa when asked what she would say to conservatives criticizing the Romney campaign. “Stop it. This is hard … you want to try it. Get in the ring,” she said.

As reported yesterday, Vice President Joe Biden’s wife, Jill Biden, will campaign in Pennsylvania next week, including a stop in Allentown.
