For the second year in a row, Governor Corbett and Senate and House Republicans pass a balanced, fiscally-responsible budget that does not raise taxes
HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding the passage of the Commonwealth’s FY 2012-2013 budget:
“I applaud Governor Corbett and members of the Pennsylvania State Senate and House for their commitment to fiscal responsibility and their tireless efforts to keep Pennsylvania on the path towards lasting prosperity.”
“Governor Corbett and Republicans in the State Senate and State House have once again fulfilled their promises to taxpayers by passing a fiscally responsible budget that forces government to live within its means and does not raise taxes. While Democrats, both in Harrisburg and Washington, D.C. continue trying to spend funds we don’t have, Republicans are confronting the very real fiscal challenges we face.
“The difference between Governor Corbett and President Obama is the same as promises kept and promises broken; leadership that works, and leadership that doesn’t. President Obama promised ObamaCare wouldn’t raise taxes, but the Supreme Court opinion found that this bill is a massive tax on the middle class. Whether it’s Governor Corbett’s no-tax increase budget or the tens of thousands of jobs coming to Western Pennsylvania as a result of a new petrochemical complex, Governor Corbett has kept his promises that he would not raise taxes and that he would work tirelessly to bring new jobs to Pennsylvania.”
