Independents More Open To Romney Than Obama

Here’s a big internal stat from the new Fox News poll showing Barack Obama and Mitt Romney tied at 46%.

BARACK OBAMA:

30% of independents say they’ll “definitely” vote for Obama, while 54% say they’ll “never” vote for him. That’s -24%.

MITT ROMNEY:

37% of independents say they’ll “definitely” vote for Romney, while 37% say they’ll “never” vote for him. In other words, he scores 24% better than Obama on this number.

CONCLUSION:

More independents say they’ll “definitely” vote for Romney, and fewer say they’ll “never” vote for him. That’s a very good place to be for Romney.

And this isn’t merely a case of Obama being better known — Romney gets a higher “definitely” percentage than the president.

Considering those numbers, it’s not surprising that Romney leads Obama by 13% among indies.
