Gov. Tom Corbett Plans Trade Mission To France, Germany

Associated Press

Gov. Tom Corbett says his upcoming trade mission to France and Germany is no vacation.

The governor said Tuesday that he plans to attend 48 meetings in six days.

Corbett said the purpose of the trip, which starts this weekend, is to increase exports of Pennsylvania products and encourage French and German companies to open or expand operations in the state.

Corbett says the trip is being financed through the nonprofit Team Pennsylvania. He says the only cost to taxpayers will be for the two state troopers who will accompany him as bodyguards.

Also on the trip will be Corbett’s economic-development chief, Alan Walker, and representatives of seven Pennsylvania companies and three universities.

They’ll visit Paris and Lyon, France, and Stuttgart and Dusseldorf, Germany.
