PA Democrats Pick Politics Over Reform

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement supporting PA House Majority Leader Mike Turzai and Pennsylvania House Republicans in their efforts to start the process of passing meaningful reforms through the state legislature:

“Last November Pennsylvanians sent a clear message to all members of the state legislature demanding significant reforms to get rid of ‘business as usual’ in Harrisburg. Now that House Republicans, led by Speaker Sam Smith and Majority Leader Mike Turzai, are moving forward with meaningful changes, House Democrats have turned to bitter tactics in a desperate attempt to obstruct voters’ call for reform and have proven that they will do anything to stall the Republicans agenda that includes cutting wasteful spending, getting people back to work and reforming how government does business.

“Minority Leader Frank Dermody and House Democrats’ deplorable behavior yesterday showed exactly why Pennsylvania voters fired them from the majority and I hope that they are quickly reminded that they are in Harrisburg to serve their constituents, not their own selfish interests. I urge members of the House Democrat Caucus to ask Representative Dermody to step aside and reconsider their position by joining Republicans in working on a substantive agenda to benefit our Commonwealth.”
