Republican Congressman-elect Mike Kelly, of Butler, has been named to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee for his first term in Congress.

Kelly, 62, learned his committee assignments from leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday, his spokesman, Brad Moore, said today.

The committee has the power to open investigations into government operations and programs, and has jurisdiction over such things as civil service issues; the U.S. Postal Service; the District of Columbia; and federal government management, organization and procurement.
