Lieutenant Governor Joe Scarnati

Joe ScarnatiSenate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati became Pennsylvania's 31st Lieutenant Governor with the passing of Catherine Baker Knoll. The Senator will fill out the remainder of Lieutenant Governor Knoll's term, which ends January 18, 2011.

Pennsylvania's Constitution requires Senator Scarnati to hold both the Lieutenant Governor and State Senate positions simultaneously.

A native of Brockway, Jefferson County, Senator Scarnati is currently serving his third term representing the residents of the 25th District, which includes all of Cameron, Elk, Jefferson, McKean, Potter, and Tioga Counties and portions of Clearfield and Warren Counties.

Senator Scarnati was sworn in as President Pro Tempore of the Pennsylvania Senate in January 2007.  Since that time, he has been a leader in reforming the way business is conducted in the Senate and remains committed to making the institution more open and accessible to the citizens of the Commonwealth.

Senator Scarnati's main priority continues to be reducing taxes and limiting government spending in order to create family-sustaining jobs in Pennsylvania. In addition, he has authored legislation which would eliminate taxpayer-funded benefits to illegal aliens.

"Thank you for visiting this site. I am honored to have been sworn in as Lieutenant Governor. I respectfully accept this responsibility and will carry out the duties of this office with dignity and integrity."

Throughout the course of the trip, Commissioner Forbes proved his commitment to electing qualified Republican candidate on numerous occassions. From phone banking and knocking on doors to tracking voter turnout and inspiring the PA GOP "Special Forces" on the bus, Commissioner Forbes, like all of our wonderful grassroots leaders, was always eager to do whatever was asked of him and more.
